The Plymouth Breeze lineup comes with three powertrain combinations for 1998: a 132-horsepower 2.0-liter, SOHC four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transaxle, a 132-hp 2.0-liter, SOHC four-cylinder engine with a four-speed automatic electronic transaxle and a 150-hp 2.4-liter, 16-valve, DOHC four-cylinder engine with a fully-adaptive four-speed automatic electronic transaxle. The 2.4-liter engine was added in the mid-1997 model year.
