1998 ISUZU HOMBRE OFFERS
FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AND INCREASED POWER

With the addition of four-wheel drive this year, Isuzu now offers a complete line of pick-up trucks ranging from a standard cab, two-wheel drive, manual transmission, 2.2 liter four-cylinder model, to a four-wheel drive, 4.3 liter V-6, automatic unth a space cab.

The new four-wheel drive Hombre, available with either a regular or spacecab, is powered by a 4.3 liter, overhead-valve, fuel-injected, V-6 producing 180 horsepower and providing 240 lb. ft. of torque @ 3600 rpm. The same engine is available in a two-wheel drive version, but produces five less horsepower but with the same torque output. Hombre's in-line four-cylinder engine is improved for 1998. This fuel-injected, 2.2 liter, overhead-valve workhorse has a two horsepower increase, from 118 @ 5200 rpm to 120 @ 5000 rpm and a boost in torque from 130 lb ft @ 2800 rpm, to 140 lb ft @ 3600 rpm. Along with the power increase has come reduced induction noise and improved driveability.

All engine, cab and drive options are available with either a five-speed manual transmission, or a four-speed automatic. Hombres come with standard four-wheel, anti-lock brakes, in addition the four-wheel drive version is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.

New this year are battery run-down protection device, Passlock™ theft-deterrent system and dual air-bags with passenger-side deactivation switch.

Hombres sport an all new interior including instrument panel, seats, trim and console. The new instrument panel houses a speedometer, trip odometer, fuel level gauge, oil pressure, voltage and coolant temperature gauges. A tachometer is standard on four-wheel drive models and an option on two-wheel drive "XS" models. In addition, the instrument panel contains warning lights for airbags, battery, brakes, four-wheel ABS, up-shift, (manual transmission only), daytime running lights, security, service body systems, low fuel, lights and engine malfunction. Four-wheel drive versions also have a "service 4WD" warning as well. All manual transmission Hombres include a floor-mounted mini-console with dual cupholders and pencil holder.

Hombres feature front seating for three in either a bench or split bench seat. Bench seating, on standard cab models, features Scotchgard™ tweed seating surfaces and when equipped with automatic transmission, dual cupholders. On spacecab models and the XS two-wheel drive model, the seating is a 60/40 split bench with center armrest. V-6 equipped spacecab models also have dual cupholders and armrest storage with coin holder. All spacecab models have vinyl upholstered folding jump seats in the rear and easy.
