MAJOR CHANGES ARE AFOOT FOR THE 1998 OLDSMOBILE ACHIEVA
In preparation for the launch of the all new Oldsmobile Alero in about a year, major changes are afoot for the Achieva. Emphasis has been shifted from regular retail consumers to fleet buyers. This Oldsmobile is a popular model in daily rental service so the Achieva will live out its assignment in that capacity. Production of the 1998 edition will run only through December of this year. There is one noteworthy design change for 1998. The next generation dual air bag restraint system allows optimum protection for belted front passengers. Since its introduction in 1992, Achieva has done a commendable job serving as the entry point for Oldsmobile customers. In keeping with this division's Centennial Plan, Achieva will end production by the end of the 1997 calendar year, to be replaced by the Alero which offers import attributes with Oldsmobile high-value pricing.
