CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON THIRD BMW REGIONAL PARTS DISTRIBUTION CENTER

SENATOBIA, MISSISSIPPI ... Mississippi Governor Kirk Fordice and BMW of North America, Inc. President Victor Doolan participated in a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of construction for the company's third regional parts distribution center.

The 200,000 square-foot facility, designed to grow with BMW, will have the capacity to stock inventory for 75,000 different parts numbers and will employ up to 75 people from the neighboring area.

"We've seen record growth in our new car sales for the last several years and with new vehicles coming, we need to keep pace with that growth," explained Victor Doolan, president of BMW of North America, Inc. "Our two parts centers are operating near capacity now and whenever possible, we are committed to providing next-day parts delivery to BMW retailers."

Later this year, BMW will introduce a new version of its popular 3 Series coupe, a new M5 sports sedan and an all new X5 sports activity vehicle. The company, which has reported record-breaking sales of its performance luxury automobiles for several consecutive years, is planning for continued growth.

"We examined several locations in the mid-south and southeastern United States and selected Senatobia for several reasons. The community is close to major transportation corridors and air transport hubs; it has a qualified labor pool and the quality of life is high," Doolan continued.

"We were impressed with the way the Mississippi Department of Economic and Community Development, the city of Senatobia and Tate County Economic Development Foundation presented their community to us and their willingness to work with BMW," he continued.

BMW has two other regional parts distribution centers. The largest is in Mt. Olive, New Jersey and the second facility is in Ontario, California.
