TEAM CATERA TAKES PODIUM AT NORBA CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES #2 !

DETROIT--At the second race of the National Off-Road Biking Association (NORBA) Championship Series at Welch Village in Red Wing, Minn., Team Catera hit the podium with three top five finishes during the two consecutive days of competition.

In the new NORBA Series format, the first day of competition consists of a typical cross-country race during which riders cover several miles by riding a six or seven mile loop three to five times. The second day of competition, called "short track," consists of several more loops on a much shorter track. During "short track," riders are tagged out at the end of a loop if they are in danger of being lapped or fall well behind the rest of the pack. This competition is meant to be significantly more exciting for spectators, as well as media broadcasts.

During the first day of cross-country racing at Welch Village, Team Catera's Chris Sheppard pulled away from a field of tough competition for a strong third-place finish. The second day of racing proved even more successful, as Team Catera walked away with two podium finishes after the "short track" competition. Sheppard placed second, to finish third in the overall standings, and teammate Carl Swenson finished out the "short track" podium in fifth place.
