1999 CAVALIER -- A SMART CHOICE FOR BUYERS ON THE GO

DETROIT -- The 1999 Chevy Cavalier accommodates today's busy lifestyles with high value and low-maintenance features built into every vehicle.

All 1999 Chevrolet Cavaliers offer a full complement of standard safety features, including Next Generation driver and front-passenger air bags, antilock brakes, reinforced safety cage construction and front and rear crush zones.

Cavalier has easy-to-own character, demonstrated by standard features such as platinum-tip spark plugs that last up to 100,000 miles, extended-life engine coolant that lasts up to 5 years or 150,000 miles and battery-rundown protection.  Other smart Cavalier features include a Passlock theft-deterrent system, Daytime Running Lamps, theatre lighting and Scotchgard protection on seats and door trim for LS and Z24 models.

A partial list of Cavalier's standard features includes power rack-and-pinion steering, intermittent fixed wipers, full wheel covers, dual breakaway outside rearview mirrors and an electronically-tuned AM/FM stereo.

Changes for 1999 include new badging for Rally Sport models and the addition of two exterior colors (Medium Green Metallic and Sandrift).   The argent-color grille on RS and LS models is replaced with a body-color paint treatment.

Also, refinements to the 2.4 liter Twin Cam engine are designed to enhance reliability, durability, emissions and decrease overall engine noise.

Cavalier Lineup Meets Varied Needs

The 1999 Cavalier lineup continues to meet the needs of a variety of compact car buyers.  Cavalier Coupe and Cavalier Sedan provide the reliable performance of the 2200 L4 engine with Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI) and  five-speed manual transmission.

The distinctive Cavalier Rally Sport Coupe adds features such as Electronic Speed Control, Tilt-Wheel steering column, a tachometer, rear decklid spoiler and luggage area cargo net, just to name a few.

Cavalier LS Sedan adds these same features, with the exception of the rear decklid spoiler, which is optional.  The LS also adds air conditioning, an electronically-tuned AM/FM stereo with cassette player, and Scotchgard protection.   LS models with an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission also have Traction Control -- a feature not commonly offered on vehicles as inexpensive as Cavalier.

The sporty Z24 Coupe and Convertible, with specific fascias and rear spoiler, round out the Cavalier lineup.  To enhance a jazzy exterior further, Z24 Coupe has 16" aluminum wheels while Z24 Convertible has 15" aluminum wheels with a cross-lace design.  Both models feature the performance of the 2.4 liter Twin Cam L4 engine with Sequential Fuel Injection.  This engine produces 150 horsepower and 155 lb.-ft of torque for an outstanding balance of off-the-line performance and passing power.  Z24 models offer the added convenience of power windows (with driver's Express-Down), power door locks, dual power exterior rearview mirrors, standard power top and standard electric rear-window defogger for the convertible.

As with every member of the Chevrolet family, Cavalier is covered by a comprehensive owner protection program that includes a no-deductible, 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and 24-Hour Roadside Assistance.

With six models to choose from and many standard features on each one, it's easy for Cavalier shoppers to make a smart buy.
