Metro’s advanced safety package is designed for crash avoidance, and also to help protect you in case the unavoidable does happen. The standard Metro safety package includes Dual air bags, front and rear crush zones, and steel side door beams. There are also child security rear-door locks (LSi Sedan only) and lap/shoulder belts with front safety belt force-limiters.

Besides Safety, Look At Everything Else You Get
For starters, there are body color front and rear bumpers, seven-spoke wheel covers, and even body-side moldings. Options you can add include power steering, automatic transmission, and a four-wheel antilock brake system (ABS). Note to music lovers: an AM/FM stereo (with cassette or CD player) is also optional.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised at just how comfortably you and three friends can travel, and how much stuff you can carry in this efficiently sized sedan.

Bumper-Level Loading
For your convenience, Metro features an optional cargo-area light and remote trunk release. Bumper-level loading height makes packing easy and cargo capacity is more than 10 cu.ft.

Daytime Running Lamps
They’ll see you coming in your new Metro with standard Daytime Running Lamps. These reduced-intensity headlamps come on automatically when you turn on the ignition and release the parking brake, to help other drivers see you in the daytime.

Both the 1.0 Liter and 1.3 Liter SOHC Metro engines feature a fuel filter and timing belt that are not scheduled for replacement for up to 100,000 miles.* Plus, both engines feature a standard, low-maintenance battery.

• Throttle-Body Fuel Injection
  Positions the injectors centrally in a throttle-body housing which contains a valve to regulate the airflow through the intake manifold. This helps deliver a smooth idle and low emissions.

• Convenient Access
  Convenient access to service and maintenance items such as spark plugs, oil filter and all fluid reservoirs makes do-it-yourself maintenance easy for economy-minded Metro owners.

• Cast Aluminum Cylinder Head
  Helps maintain more even engines temperatures and minimize weight. Aluminium conducts heat better and also weighs less than iron.
  
  The 1.3 Liter SOHC engine features a 4-valve combustion chamber, for good air-flow and engine performance. This four-cylinder engine is standard on Metro LSi models with a 5-speed manual transmission or optional 3-speed automatic. Other features include:

    Increases combustion efficiency and helps to produce more power.
  • Multi-Port Fuel Injection
    Uses individual fuel injectors to spray fuel into each intake port, for more precise fuel management.
  • Distributorless Ignition
    Eliminates the need for periodic timing adjustments.

4-Wheel ABS
A four-wheel antilock brake system (ABS) is optional on all models. ABS reduces wheel lockup during hard braking, and helps you to maintain steering control on most slippery surfaces.

High MPG
Metro Coupe’s EPA estimated MPG makes it the highest mileage Chevy around. Projected EPA estimates are 41 city, 47 highway. Metro Sedan is also a frugal performer -- with a projected EPA estimate of 39 city, 41 highway MPG

Next Generation Dual Air Bags
Standard Next Generation dual air bags are designed to deploy with reduced force and to supplement the safety belt system in the event of a frontal collision. Always use safety belts and proper child restraints even with Next Generation air bags. See the owner’s manual for more safety information. Rear-seat safety belts include cinch capability that helps make securing child safety seats easy.

Air Conditioning with CFC-Free Refrigerant
The optional air conditioning system contains CFC-free refrigerant. And, with this advanced system, the defrost mode automatically turns on the air conditioner to help clear foggy windows quickly.

100,000-Mile Limited Rust-Through Warranty
The Metro body is made of zinc-rich, galvanized steel panels (except for the roof) and is warranted against rust-through for six years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first). That’s real peace of mind!

3-Year/36,000 Mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty
