DaimlerChrysler will host a Career Exploration
Conference at the DaimlerChrysler Mack Engine Plant along with eight Detroit Public
Schools, 10 community-based resources organizations and 30 local churches.
Anyone interested in knowing about the "hot" jobs of the 21st
century, seeking college and education information, or in need of community-based
resources should attend the DaimlerChrysler Career Exploration Conference.
Plant tours and an interactive children's learning center with
LearnStar academic games, Arts and Scraps and artifacts from the Children's Museum and the
Detroit Zoo also will be on-site.
PARTICIPANTS:
A host of potential employers including Ameritech, City of Detroit,
Aerotek, Coca Cola, Detroit Edison, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Police Department, Hawkins
Food Group, Mercy Hospital will be at the plant to meet with the community.
Other participants in the conference who will talk about educational
requirements include DAPCEP, Career Education Center of Detroit, Davis Aerospace Technical
High School, Wayne State University, Career Education Center of Detroit, Spring Arbor
College, Western Michigan University and Wayne County Community College.
Community-based participants include INROADS, Detroit Urban League,
Boys and Girl Scouts, Focus Hope, Detroit Employment Connection, Detroit Entrepreneur
Institute, United Way and Junior Achievement to provide information on specific skill sets
needed to succeed in the 21st century workforce.
