1999 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE - A CAR FOR ALL SEASONS

A true four-season open-top car that blends elegant design, athletic performance and unmatched practicality, the Chrysler Sebring Convertible has quickly become the nation's best-selling convertible.

Commanding almost a third of the open car market over three model years, Sebring Convertible enters 1999 by continuing to redefine this "fashion conscious" segment by essentially providing an open car that has the style of a coupe, yet the practicality of a sedan. With its best-in-class rear seating, uncommonly large trunk, tight and solid structural feel and overall quiet driving environment, the Sebring Convertible is a genuine four-season car.

Expanded in 1998 to include the successful Sebring Limited, Sebring is also available in the JX and JXi models as well. For 1999, model choices and options have been simplified for better value and easier ordering, while a new agate color interior scheme is available on the Sebring Limited. These changes come on the heels of dozens of other refinements and new features added for 1998.

"Sebring Convertible truly rounds out the Chrysler brand's lineup by providing a convertible that offers all the style and substance our customers expect," said Martin R. Levine, General Manager - Chrysler/Plymouth/Jeep® Division. "By every measure, the Sebring Convertible has been a solid sales success and it is reaching a more discriminating demographic."

For 1999, all Sebring Convertibles sport the new Chrysler "winged" badging that is being extended across the Chrysler brand vehicle line. The Limited includes as standard a 2.5-liter SOHC V-6 engine with AutoStick® transmission, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and traction control. Unique items to the Limited include chrome-plated cast aluminum wheels, "rose zebrano" woodgrain interior trim accents, agate and camel color scheme with special perforated leather-trimmed seats and padded console armrest, instrument cluster with electroluminescent lighting and special "Limited" exterior badging.

All Sebring Convertible models receive next-generation driver air bags*, while a refined four-wheel-disc anti-lock brake system comes with an optional traction control system. A Sentry KeyTM vehicle immobilizer is available to improve theft protection by requiring a computer match between the key and the ignition for the car to start. This is in addition to the personal security and theft package which features a "panic" alarm and the optional Homelink® remote system which operates up to three remote control devices inside the home.

The Sebring Convertible JX offers impressive content at very affordable prices. Speed-sensitive steering, a 150 horsepower, 2.4-liter, DOHC engine, four-wheel double-wishbone independent suspension, luxury front bucket seats with integrated auto height-adjust seat belts and a list of other standard items make the JX an exceptional value.

The Sebring Convertible JXi adds even more performance and luxury amenities as standard, including a 168 horsepower, 2.5-liter, SOHC V-6 engine, 16-inch performance wheels, anti-lock disc brakes, leather trim interior and a cloth top with interior lining.

"We continue to improve Sebring Convertible's appeal, but not at the expense of what has been a very successful formula," Levine added. "We expect the 1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible to easily maintain its dominance in the open car segment."
