DODGE AVENGER BLENDS PERFORMANCE AND PRACTICALITY IN A SPORT COUPE

Dodge Avenger brings a whole new dimension to the sport coupe segment. With generous interior room, aggressive styling and excellent affordability, Avenger enters 1999 by offering the excitement of a true sport coupe with the versatility of a sedan.

The basic formula that made Avenger a hit over the last several years remains intact - unmistakable Dodge styling, fun-to-drive handing and performance, and generous interior room and comfort. Avenger's excellent handling characteristics stem from its double-wishbone independent suspension, speed-sensitive steering system and available 17-inch performance-rated tires.

Now available in a base, Sport and ES model, the 1999 Dodge Avenger comes standard with a 2.0-liter, 16-valve, DOHC four-cylinder engine. Rated at 140 horsepower, it is mated to a slick-shifting five-speed manual transmission. A 163 hp 2.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC V-6 with an electronic four-speed automatic transmission is optional.

The Avenger Sport adds the 2.5-liter V-6 engine, four-wheel disc brakes, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 16-inch cast aluminum wheels and rear deck lid spoiler. Avenger ES models are available with an eight-speaker Infinity® AM/FM sound system with both a tape cassette and compact disc player, or the Infinity full logic AM/FM system with cassette player only. A six-way power driver's seat and leather-trimmed seating are available on the ES at no cost to complement the black and tan and black and grey interior color schemes.

Safety features include dynamic side-impact intrusion protection, next-generation front air bags* and available anti-lock brakes (ABS).

New colors for 1999 include Plum and Shark Blue.
