DODGE CARAVAN - THE WORLD'S BEST - SELLING MINIVAN

Ever since Chrysler Corporation created the minivan category 15 years ago, Dodge Caravan has reigned as the world's best-selling minivan.

"We sell approximately 300,000 Caravans each year," said Jim Julow, General Manager - Dodge Division. "Brand loyalty for this vehicle is extremely high - about 45 percent of Caravan owners will return to their Dodge dealership and purchase a new one."

Dodge offers six versions of the popular Caravan for 1999, from the short-wheelbase Caravan to the Grand Caravan ES. Light Cypress Green is added to 1999's exterior color choices.

All Caravan models feature bolder, freshened front-ends with new chrome badging. In addition, ES and Sport models feature a new honeycomb grille, round fog lamps, body color rear spoiler and rear fascia scuff pads.

Several minivan firsts are standard on the Grand Caravan ES, including AutoStick®, which gives drivers the control of a manual with the convenience of an automatic transaxle. In addition, Grand Caravan ES comes standard with the largest-in-class 17-inch tires.

ES standard features include a 3.8-liter V-6 engine, universal garage door opener, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, full-size spare tire and an AM/FM stereo with graphic equalizer, cassette and compact disc player. Optional features now include heated leather front seats, a power passenger seat and body-colored roof rack.

Caravan Sport offers a variety of new features for 1999, including an eight-way power driver's seat with manual lumbar adjustment, premium low-back bucket seats, premium interior cloth, overhead console with a mini trip computer and second row reading lamps.

Outboard mid- and rear-seat head restraints are now standard on the base Caravan, while power windows and power vents are now available as options.

In addition to thoughtful interior features such as back seat-mounted grocery bag hooks, Dodge has added a standard cargo net between the driver and passenger seats on all models, which prevents objects from rolling into the rear cabin.

For 1999, the company that first offered integrated child safety seats introduces a newly available reclining integrated child seat designed into the second-row Quad Command bucket seats. Also for 1999, next generation air bags*, certified to federal regulations that allow less forceful air bags, are now standard on both driver and passenger sides.

Industry-wide, minivan sales account for eight percent of all new vehicles sold in the U.S. Chrysler Corporation sells nearly 700,000 minivans worldwide each year, and owns a 45 percent market share in the North American market. Since 1983, Chrysler Corporation has sold nearly seven million minivans.
