T-Rex -- The Ultimate Ram

So you want a three-axle 6x6 personal-use vehicle that outmaneuvers,
out-tows, and out-hauls
any light-duty truck on the planet? Take cover, here comes Dodge's Technology Research
Experimental Vehicle, or T-REX for short. But make no mistake, short is a word
you would think twice about using when referring to a Ram Pickup with a stretched cargo
bed to accommodate tandem rear axles.
The distinctive handling, traction and capacity capabilities of the T-Rex come from the
unique tandem rear axle design. The system delivers full-time four-wheel drive to the rear
axles and
full- or part-time six-wheel drive with the front axle engaged.
The electronically controlled air suspension offers automatic load leveling, adjustable
ride height and selectable ride control, with a potential towing capacity of 26,000 pounds
gross combined weight (GCW) and a payload of up to 5,000 pounds.
What may be most remarkable about the T-Rex is the Ram traits it has retained. Most of the
power train components are enhanced factory parts, including a modified 8.0-liter Magnum
V10 with 500 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, the Chrysler heavy-duty four-speed
automatic
transmission and two Dana rear axles.
Dodge was able to make the 10-month development time by specifically using off-the-shelf
parts for axles, suspension components, frame sections, cab and pickup box.
Earthshaking power. Groundbreaking capacity. Only from a company that dares to change the
rules. Again!
