2000 CONTOUR CONTINUES TO WIN ACCOLADES

The fun-to-drive Contour continues to win accolades from driving enthusiasts who value the European dynamics and available V6 with manual transmission in an affordable sedan.

Contour buyers are attracted to the sophisticated driving dynamics and the convenience of comfortable, four-door sedan practicality. Ride and handling was improved in 1999 with revisions the front subframe and A-arm design resulting in reduced friction and improved steering precision.

New for 2000

For 2000, Contour is available in two series, LX and SE. Also available is a high performance SVT Contour. The available color palette adds Harvest Gold Clearcoat Metallic and Chestnut Clearcoat Metallic. Deleted colors are Light Prairie Tan and Spruce Green.

Powertrain

The standard engine is a 2.0-liter Zetec I4 which produces 125 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 130 ft.-lbs. of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Also available is a 2.5-liter Duratec V6 which delivers 170 hp at 6,250 rpm and 165 ft.-lbs. of torque at 4,250 rpm.

Both engines are available with a standard 5-speed transaxle or an optional

4-speed electronic overdrive automatic.
