The station wagon model is discontinued for 2000. The four-door sedan and the derivative Escort ZX2 coupe are back by popular demand in 2000.
Powertrain
Escort is powered by a 2.0-liter split port fuel injection I-4 engine producing 110 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 110 ft. lbs. of torque at 5,000 rpm.
The standard transaxle is a 5-speed manual. A 4-speed automatic with electronic overdrive is optional.
Manufacturing
Escort is manufactured at Fords Hermosillo, Mexico, assembly plant.
