2000 Ford ZX2 Offers Sporty Appeal

2000 ZX2

The Ford ZX2 two-door coupe offers customers an entry-level priced coupe with a sporty appeal, a spirited ride and low operating costs. For 2000, ZX2 adds a performance S/R package and more options to allow customers to personalize their car.

An AM/FM stereo cassette, power mirrors and rear window defroster all are now standard.

Safety

Placing a priority on safety, as with other Ford cars and light trucks, ZX2 has a new safety feature, "Belt-Minder," which reminds unbuckled drivers to buckle up by activating a warning light and sounding an intermittent tone during operation.

ZX2 also is equipped with a "glow-in-the-dark" trunk release lever to prevent trunk entrapment. Child safety seats are securely attached to the car’s package tray.

Other major safety features include dual air bags, dynamic side-impact protection and optional anti-lock brakes.

Powertrain

ZX2 is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC Zetec engine with variable cam timing. The fuel-efficient engine is teamed with a choice of standard five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission. ZX2's engine delivers 130 horsepower at 5,750 rpm. The ZX2 powertrain is designed for low maintenance, with platinum-tipped spark plugs allowing a 100,000-mile tune-up interval under normal driving conditions with routine fluid and filter changes.

Customers can choose among three Option Groups, including a new S/R package:
