RANGER MARKS FORD'S RETURN TO UK PICK-UP MARKET

World's best-selling manufacturer of pick-ups brings its pedigree to the European market with the Thai-built Ford Ranger, offering models ideal for both the working environment and recreational use.

To suit a wide variety of commercial needs, the strong Ford Ranger line-up offers three body styles: the load-lugging, one tonne Regular Cab, the versatile four-seat Super Cab, and the five-seat Double Cab that offers the highest payload and loadbox length in its class. Ford Ranger is equipped with modern, compact and powerful 2.5-litre, 12-valve diesel engines, in either normally aspirated 57kW(78 PS) or turbocharged 80kW(109 PS) form, with four-wheel drive available on Regular and Double Cab models.

Powering even heavily laden Ford Rangers through on-road and off-road environments, the engines deliver car-like refinement matched by Ford Ranger's outstanding ride and handling, and its comfortable and spacious interior.

"Ford Ranger is a real 'go anywhere, do anything' machine which draws on Ford's unparalleled global expertise in pick-up trucks, and it will broaden our market-leading commercial vehicle line-up," says Ian McAllister, Chairman and Managing Director, Ford of Britain. "It's a tough and versatile new pick-up which is at the top of the class in every key aspect of its design and engineering."

"What's more," he continues, "Ford Ranger embodies the same 'tough truck' values as Ford Transit and as our legendary North American pick-up, the F-Series. We believe that Ford Ranger will give new impetus to the whole pick-up segment, and that it has the potential to bring many customers to Ford."

Ford Ranger is also an important additional option for existing Ford operators, providing a completely different style of working vehicle which can be added to fleets without losing the advantages of one-stop shopping for their commercial vehicles.
