The Spirit of Ford's Public Grand Opening

Spirit of Ford is an interactive science and technology center that
explores present and future innovations in automotive design, engineering and
manufacturing. Exhibit topics demonstrate advances in safety, testing, environment and
global design. Highlights include the "Turbo Tour," a full-motion assembly line
simulator ride, a pit stop where guests
become a part of the "pit crew" and work on a NASCAR vehicle, the world's
largest hologram of its kind and Ford's exciting and innovative concept cars.
Spirit of Ford's exhibits were developed by Busch Creative Services/St. Louis, Missouri;
Peckham, Guyton, Albers & Viets, Inc./ St. Louis, Missouri; Science North/Sudbury,
Canada and PPI/ Portland, Oregon with input from Ford's top designers, engineers and
manufacturing experts. Automotive science and technology exhibits focus on design,
testing, safety, environment, manufacturing and racing.
FACILITY: Spirit of Ford is a 50,000 square-foot, neo-classical oval building. The design
is reminiscent of the famed Ford Rotunda, which was built for the 1933-34 Chicago World's
Fair.
The project architect for Spirit of Ford is Hobbs & Black/Ann Arbor, Michigan. The
interior architect is Peckham, Guyton, Albers & Viets, Inc./St. Louis, Missouri.

Admission is complimentary for certified teachers, two adult leaders per pre-paid group,
one tour operator, per pre-paid group and bus drivers. Children under the age of 2
are also admitted at no charge.
