GM -- THE CHILD SAFETY COMPANY

GM and its labor partners will continue an on-going commitment to child safety through endorsement of the May 24-31 Operation ABC Mobilization week, a national traffic safety initiative focused on child safety. Through support of this initiative, GM demonstrates it is the "child safety company," according to Bob Lange, Engineering Director of Automotive Safety. "GM is committed to helping change the social paradigm such that no child ever rides unsecured in a car or truck," he says. "We urge everyone - our colleagues, our
families and our friends -- to always buckle up and to assure that the children who ride with us are always secured -- every time, on every trip."

Additional efforts demonstrating GM's dedication to child passenger protection include features on GM cars and trucks which benefit children; a partnership on programs with the National SAFE KIDS Campaign; and initiatives with the UAW, NAACP and National Council of La Raza to distribute child restraints. GM is also joined by the UAW, International Union of Electricians (IUE) and United Steel Workers of America (USWA) in the "Create the Habit" employee seat belt campaign.
