When Life Is Too Big For A Minivan

A genuine midsize family van, Safari provides more power for hauling heavy loads, room to carry the family, and luxury to enjoy the ride. Safari is built to some of the toughest standards. Ours.

Customers may have thought the GMC Safari, the only rear-wheel-drive midsize van in its segment, was already just about perfect. After all, it offers the most towing ability, cargo capacity and standard passenger seating of any midsize van while maintaining a size efficiency that makes it easy to handle and maneuver.

But now, for 1999, it gets even better. A new option package makes it possible to get all this and more at a lower price than a comparable 1998 Safari.

The secret is the new 1SV package, which transforms 1998's popular van into the One Super Value Safari. In addition to standard features such as air conditioning and eight-passenger seating, the One Super Value package includes such value-added features as power windows, locks, and mirrors; remote keyless entry; cassette radio; and an overhead console with electronic compass and trip computer. The One Super Value package is offered on both rear- and all-wheel drive models and is available in all states except California, Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

In 1998, the comparable package offering these options was discounted $700 for both rear- and all-wheel drive models. For 1999, the One Super Value package savings are offered at discounts of $2177 for the rear-wheel drive Safari and $2677 for the all-wheel drive version. This translates into a net MSRP of only $1159 for the rear-wheel drive Safari and just $659 for the all wheel driver model. "That's a lot of options for very little money," said Jim Murray, Safari Brand Manager.

Customers can couple the One Super Value package with Safari's attractive 1999 core SmartLease payment and drive away in a loaded Safari for just $299 a month. To help ensure that drivers are aware of Safari's affordability, GMC is providing dealers with both television and newspaper advertising support touting the Safari's One Super Value package and low monthly payments.

In addition, when customers choose a Safari with the One Super Value package, they can add even more options and still receive the same great discount. These "free-flow" items include such options as Dutch doors, rear air conditioning, heavy-duty trailering equipment, power seats and more.

"Safari has always offered incomparable capability through its all-wheel drive, towing ability, horsepower, cargo capacity and seating for up to eight passengers. For 1999, we are proud to offer incomparable value as well," said Murray.
