Two Fuels. One Hard Working Truck.

GMC's innovative Alternative Fuel Vehicle, the Sierra Bi-Fuel Pickup truck, operates on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), then switches over to regular gasoline when the CNG tank is empty. But the CNG tank isn't just an add-on. It's part of an integrated fuel system designed specifically to maximize the performance of Sierra's Vortec 5700 V8 engine.

The big picture
The truck that this bi-fuel system powers is everything you expect from a GMC Sierra pickup. It's a 3/4-ton, 8600 GVW, two-wheel and four-wheel drive pickup with a regular cab as well as a crew cab. Its Vortec 5700 V8 engine provides the muscle to haul payloads up to 3,170 lbs. (including passengers). And it's fully covered by GMC's 36 month/36,000 mile warranty.

Why compressed natural gas?
Clean-burning natural gas is a sensible alternative fuel. It releases very little carbon monoxide or reactive gases, so it helps improve the quality of the air we breathe. And since the U.S. has abundant natural gas resources, it helps lessen our country's dependency on foreign oil.

Bi-fuel benefits for your business
The Sierra Bi-Fuel Pickup is certified as a Low Emission Vehicle by the Federal EPA and the California Air Resources Board -- which can help you meet increasingly stringent government mandates1 for fleets. Plus, CNG is lower priced than gasoline to help reduce your fleet's operating costs. Since the CNG system is teamed with a standard gasoline system, it eliminates refueling concerns on those long-mileage business routes. And because the bi-fuel system already includes a full-size gasoline tank, you won't have to retrofit the alternative fuel units back to gasoline when it's time for resale.
