American Honda Closes Another Sizzling Month

TORRANCE, Calif.,- American Honda continued its record-setting sales pace in July, shattering the previous monthly record with sales of 100,135, up 7.9 percent, and posting the company's second-best month ever, according to sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

All-time record light truck sales paved the way, led by Odyssey minivan sales of 5,220, up 185 percent, and the CR-V sport utility vehicle, with sales of 10,734.

"It's time to start re-writing the record books," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, American Honda. "We've set a new mark every month this year and we hope to continue the pace." Honda Division sales of 89,392 were up 9.4 percent, setting a new all-time record and topping year-ago levels for the 28th consecutive month. Accord sales of 38,367 were up 13.5 percent and Civic sales of 31,527 were up 2.1 percent.

Acura Division sales of 10,743 were paced by the 3.2TL's record July sales of 4,300, up 95.4 percent. It is the 11th straight month of record TL sales.
