ISUZU VEHICROSS AND AMIGO REPRESENT
"VEHICLES OF THE 90s" IN "BURBANK ON PARADE"

BURBANK, Calif. --- The Isuzu VehiCROSS and Isuzu Amigo were selected to represent the "Vehicles of the 90s" at the 19th consecutive annual "Burbank On Parade" in front of an estimated 40,000 spectators. "Cruising Into the 21st Century," the parade's first transportation theme since its debut in 1947, set the stage for a historic showcase of cars from every decade of the 20th century. The VehiCROSS, driven by Don Baldasaroni, and the Amigo, driven by Tom Valetutti, had the honor of being the last vehicles in the procession.

The event is a significant fixture to Burbank and is legendary for its Hollywood connections. Interestingly, Debbie Reynolds, 1947 "Miss Burbank," was the parade's first Grand Marshall, a role that is credited for launching her movie career.

This year Frank Murphy, host of the Y-107 "Morning Show," was the Grand Marshall. Celebrities from Hollywood's Golden Era, such as Virginia Mayo and John Agar, graced the parade route. Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny even showed up. Congressman James Rogan was along for the ride in one of the classic cars.

The VehiCROSS gained a great deal of attention from the younger audience," said Bob Beck, Owner Relations Manager for American Isuzu Motors Inc., who emceed the parade this year. "It was great to see the Amigo and VehiCROSS proceeding side-by-side. Isuzu's vehicles had the distinction of being the only SUVs in the parade and the only gas-powered vehicles representing the 90s." Honda and Saturn featured electric cars for the 90s segment.

Over 150 vehicles were driven from Lincoln Street and Olive Avenue all the way to the George Izay Park, where the parade route ended and the vehicle showcase began.

The 1999 "Burbank on Parade" will be broadcast on Channel 6 for Marcus Cable.
