Jaguar cars posts all-time record
MAHWAH, N.J.,- Jaguar Cars announced its best
sales month ever in the United States. The company sold 3,209 cars in May, topping sales
of 3,114 cars in December 1995 by three percent. In addition, sales for May were up 66
percent compared with the same month last year and 40 percent above Jaguar's previous best
May in 1987.
For the month, large sedan sales totaled 1,229, sports car sales were 541 and sales of the
all-new S-TYPE were 1,439.

"What a great month for Jaguar," said
Michael H. Dale, president of Jaguar North America. "This new all-time record
demonstrates that the S-TYPE is off to a great start and that our customers are finding
what they want in luxury automobiles including quality and style."
Total year-to-date sales were 9,450, up 5 percent compared with the first five months of
1998, making this the best start for the calendar year ever.
