Jeep Commander: the concept
vehicle

Jeep Commander combines two of the Jeep brands highest ideals
off-road prowess and environmental responsibility.
With the addition of an alternative power source to this Jeep dual electric motors
(front and rear) with a fuel cell battery pack this concept vehicle commands
respect in any environment while making minimal impact on it.
With a width of nearly seven feet (80 inches), Commander feels stable and secure on the
road. Providing additional security are exterior mirrors with wipers and integrated
180-degree convex mirrors that help eliminate blind spots. Should the path lead off-road,
the ride height is adjustable and can be raised four inches.
Offroad aerodynamics are aided by a special heat-exchanging cowl panel that improves
wind flow over the windshield and draws hot air out from under the hood to keep the fuel
cell system cool. At highway speeds, a rear spoiler deploys from the roof. An
on-demand roof rack, available when needed for luggage, stays flush with the
roof in its normal position.
Inside, data such as weather, traffic and directions, as well as phone, Internet and
vehicle diagnostic information are provided by a small laptop computer that can dock into
the center console. A small microphone embedded in the steering column can even receive
voice commands, which then can be translated into data.
