PRICES OF 1999 MODELS
All-new Discovery Series II base-priced 2.5
percent below 1998 model
LANHAM, MD - Land Rover North America, Inc.
announced prices for the 1999 Range Rover 4.OSE and 4.6HSE models and the all-new
Discovery Series II. Said Charles R. Hughes, president of Land Rover North America, "In today's super-heated sport-utiIity
segrnent, the customer has to see value in your products. For 1999, the Land Rover
value story is as competitive as ever. In fact, the all-new Discovery Series II,
which is significantly improved for 1999, will be priced $850 below the base 1998
model. It is an exceptional value."
For 1999, Land Rover's top-of-the-line Range Rover
receives its most significant upgrades since 1995. The V-8 engine offers improved
performance; four-wheel electronic traction control is now standard; Side airbags,
seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters for the driver and front passenger are new and
the already luxurious interior has been revised. The MSRP for Range Rover 4.OSE is
up by 3 percent to $58,000. The more powerful and exclusive Range Rover 4.6 HSE will
carry an MSRP of $66,000, and increase of 2.5 percent over 1998.
Range Rover's optional
integrated satellite navigational system, J.A.M.ES. is priced at $2995. It is the
only option for Range Rover.
The Discovery Series II, is
larger and more comfortable than the model it replaces, and will feature an MSRP of
$34,150, a reduction of 2.5 compared to the 1998 Discovery LE. One model will
be offered, but with a larger selection of options, giving customers additional
flexibility to outfit their Land Rover exactly to their individual tastes.
The
base Series Il model features a strong, 4.0-Iitre V-8 engine, an electronically controlled
four-speed automatic transmission, permanent four-wheel drive with four-wheel traction
control, Land Rover's patented Hill Descent Control, four-wheel ABS, electronic brake
force distribution and a cloth interior. Optional equipment includes1he Leather
Package ($1950), which feature leather seat covers, wood trim and a premium sound
system; the Performance Package ($2900), which includes Land Rover's exclusive Active
Cornering Enhancement (ACE) and special 18-inch wheels; and the Cold Climate package
($500) with heated seats and front wind screen. The Rear Seat Package ($1750) increases
seating to seven with two additional forward-facing seats, each with a three-point safety
belt and head restraint. The Rear Seat Package also includes a rear step to ease entry and
is coupled with Discovery's new Self Leveling Suspension.
Stand-alone options include the Self Leveling Suspension ($750), a six-disc CD changer
($625) and the dual sunroof package ($1500). Rear air conditioning ($750) can
be paired with the Rear Seat Package. All Land Rover products are covered by a
4-year/50,000 mile warranty that includes 24-hour roadside assistance for the length of
the warrainty. The transportation fee for all products is $625.
