A unique partnership to help the environment.
Future Forests and Mazda Cars team up for the launch of the Demio
For the launch of the Demio, Mazda has formed a partnership with environmental task force, Future Forests, in which Mazda have committed to plant sufficient trees to counteract the COČ created, on average, by all the Mazda Demio cars sold for a full calendar year.
After the first year of ownership, Demio drivers will be invited to continue making a contribution to their environment by enabling Future Forests to plant more trees.
All Mazda Owners are also being encouraged to support Future Forests and become 'carbon neutral' drivers.
Carbon Neutral
Research by Edinburgh University has estimated that five trees, over their lifetime, can offset the annual emissions of one average size car. So the planting of five trees equates to making the car "carbon neutral" for one year.
Mazda will plant five trees for every Mazda Demio sold in the first twelve months from launch. The trees will be planted at a number of sites around the country, and Future Forests will work with the Wildlife Trust Community Forest Programme to facilitate and manage the planting scheme. All Demio drivers will be given a certificate and maps referring to the locations used.
The Future Forests organisation was founded in 1991; it arranges for the planting of native species of tree in properly managed sites as a means of reducing the build up of the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide.
