Inside Mazda                  mazda_logo(1).gif (4064 bytes)

Looking at Mazda today, it's hard to imagine that this world leader in the automotive industry actually started out as a tiny cork manufacturer in Hiroshima, Japan. Since the first Mazda vehicles began arriving in the United States in 1970, the Mazda name has stood for uncompromising quality, outstanding value and an exceptional driving experience. Mazda continues to bolster that reputation through groundbreaking partnerships with other progressive forces in the industry. Our ongoing collaboration with Ford Motor Company is a perfect example.

One reason Mazda vehicles are so exhilarating to drive is the Mazda philosophy of Kansei Engineering. It takes into account human thoughts, feelings and emotions and then weaves them into the design process. We call the creative force behind this process, Contrast in Harmony.

In creating a strong visual identity for all our vehicles, we have achieved a balance of textures and shapes inspired by the harmonious contrasts of nature.

Mazda remains committed to R&D efforts to develop vehicles that satisfy the needs of drivers for years to come. One aspect of that is our work in a wide array of environmentally responsible technologies spanning manufacturing, recycling, fuel economy, vehicle emissions, and alternative fuels.

With respect to safety, Mazda strives to reflect the highest level of active and passive safety technology in all our products.

We developed our own concept Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV). It's loaded with futuristic features including a collision-avoidance system that detects the presence of pedestrians and approaching vehicles, precluding possible accidents. While just a concept right now, with Mazda minds working on it, it's only a matter of time before some of the ideas behind this remarkable vehicle show up in a showroom near you.

Mazda enjoys a continuing tradition of creating distinctive vehicles for discerning drivers. It's a heritage of innovation that we'll proudly carry into the next century.
