tilt (standard on Protegé LX and ES models) makes it easy for you to find the perfect

the DX and LX has 105 horsepower (103 hp in CA/NY/CT/MA/RI) and the ES delivers a smooth
122 horsepower (120 hp in CA/NY/CT/MA/RI) with its 1.8 liter engine.
- You can haul all kinds of gear with a 60/40 split
fold-down rear seatback on all trim levels.
- Beverage accommodations come standard on the Protegé
with dual front-seat cupholders that can handle your full-size cup of java.

the air conditioning.

- Protegé puts you in control with an available 4-wheel
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
- If you’re planning on a family (or already have
one) you’ll be glad the Protegé has rear child-safety door locks and three-point
safety belts for all occupants.
- Want to brag? Just tell people about the fully
independent suspension with coil springs and front and rear stabilizer bars (for flatter
cornering).
- For extra security, the dual-action power door locks
let you unlock just one door, or all four doors. (LX, ES)
- Protegé features the latest second generation
de-powered front air bags as well as front - and rear-crumple zones.
- 5-mph bumpers absorb minor impacts without harm to the
body work, or your insurance premiums.
- For added safety the Protege´ features "Triple
H" construction : up to 2 mm of steel reinforcement that creates a safety cage in the
Protege´ body for added strength and resistance to impact.
