What is the BOVY?
Each year, IntelliChoice analyzes ownership cost of over 900 cars and trucks sold in the United States. We use this information and purchase price information to determine which vehicles represent the best financial alternative - the best value.
A BOVY award is given to each of the cars and trucks that cost significantly less to own than expected for a vehicle with their purchase price. For instance, if a $20,000 car has an ownership cost of $30,000 over five years, it is a significantly better value than another car with the same purchase price but an ownership cost of $40,000 for the same period.
IntelliChoice is the only company that provides consumers with a comprehensive review of new car ownership costs. IntelliChoice measures each of these by considering the costs of depreciation, maintenance, repairs, fuel, fees, financing, and insurance. Only the sum of these seven cost areas can give a true representation of a vehicles ownership cost.
