Technical cooperation between Mitsubishi Motors and Fiat
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and Fiat Auto S.p.A announced a primary technical cooperation agreement which calls for the joint development and production of a four wheel drive sport utility vehicle (SUV).
Fiat Auto will be responsible for the styling of the new vehicle. And Mitsubishi, a world leader in four wheel drive technology, will provide a platform and mechanical parts.
The production of the vehicle will begin in the first half of 2001 at the Pininfarina S.p.A. facility in Bairo Canavese Turin. The new vehicle will be produced in three and five door versions and will be powered by a diesel and a gasoline engine.
Mitsubishi and Fiat Auto also agreed to pursue their talks in establishing further technical cooperation.
