The Technas concept vehicle previews advanced sport utility design for the next century. Its styling offers benefits such as a low front end for an extended driver's view, as well as pillars that join across the roof to form a roll bar. Its seats are made from leather and netting, allowing them to get wet after outdoor activities and when folded, serve as luggage nets. A center display on the instrument panel provides satellite navigation.

Engine

3.0-liter, DOHC 24-valve engine employs gasoline-direct technology providing significantly more power and fuel efficiency while reducing exhaust emissions.

Transmission
Five-speed automatic transmission with sport mode allows the driver to use the transmission conventionally or as a manual through a gated shifter. INVECS II, a fuzzy logic program, allows the transmission to adapt to the driver's style and match gear selections to road conditions.

Suspension
Electric, full-time four-wheel drive system. Four-wheel independent suspension with multilink design provides a comfortable ride with improved handling and stability. Self-leveling rear suspension keeps the vehicle at a constant height, no matter what the load. Active Yaw Control (AYC) balances the vehicle's load on all four wheels and optimizes cornering and steering performance.

Tires and brakes

Low-profile 255/40R19 tires have a traction-enhancing tread design which integrates into the spokes of the aluminum wheels. Brakes feature 14-inch rotors and multipiston calipers.

Body
Low front section maximizes driver's field of vision, while the windshield provides a full panoramic view. Rear pillars are joined across the roof like a roll bar for maximum safety and occupant protection. The lower body has a full, wraparound skid plate which includes an integrated grille guard. Fiber optic lamp units, featured in both the front and rear of the vehicle, allow smooth integration into the body.

Interior

Seats are made from leather and netting which allows them to get wet after outdoor activities and, when folded, to serve as luggage nets. Rear seats may be removed for use as outside chairs. Unobstructed areas between the seats allow walk-through from the front to the rear. Controls and instruments are positioned and color-coded according to their function. Driving controls are yellow, while auxiliary controls are blue. Multifunction display relays recreational information and provides satellite navigation.

Loading
Two-piece, plastic tailgate opens from center and features a rear window which retracts into the roof, providing easy and versatile loading options. Low-friction plastic sliders ease the loading of heavy equipment, while front and rear doors open opposite of another and allow the driver and front passenger to easily load the rear seat.
