The TOWNBOX is the fourth in the "Big Small" mini-car series that epitomizes the company's Innovation in Motion motto in a way that is special to smaller cars. TOWNBOX goes on sale at those Mitsubishi Galant dealerships throughout Japan on Thursday, 1 April.
TOWNBOX realizes sub-compact size levels of safety performance, going beyond the requirements of the Japanese crash safety standards that were upgraded with the introduction of the new size regulations governing the mini-car category in 1998. TOWNBOX's chunky wagon configuration incorporates a semi-cabover shape that makes it highly maneuverable and gives it a reassuringly stable appearance, as well as providing a comfortably spacious interior for four adults with generous provision for luggage.
TOWNBOX uses a semi-midship layout to realize optimal weight distribution that,
together with its sub-compact class wheelbase, delivers in confidence-inspiring
performance on the road. Other easy-to-use and strain-relieving features include easy
access to and from the cabin, and outstanding all-round visibility stemming from the high
seat position and extensive glass area. TOWNBOX models are powered by a choice of two
engines. Returning outstanding mileage and tuned to deliver optimum power and torque
characteristics at normal engine speeds, Mitsubishi's New Leanburn MVV*1
eco-friendly unit realizes a major reduction in CO2 emissions and uses an improved
catalytic converter to significantly reduce NOx emissions. The 4-cylinder 20-valve DOHC
intercooler-turbocharger power unit delivers sporty performance with outstanding
supercharging efficiency right from low engine speeds for awesome and silky smooth
