Next Nissan Sentra will meet the SULEV Requirements

Nissan of North America expects that its 2000 Sentra that are sold in California will meet the Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle requirements. When it does, this vehicle will be the first gasoline engine vehicle to meet this requirement.
Sentra's 1.8-liter, fuel-injected engine requires low-sulfur gasoline and is not based on gasoline direct-injection technology.
The 2000 Sentra is expected to be 90 percent better in cleaning nitrogen oxides and 75 percent more efficient in burning hydrocarbons than any clean gasoline-powered vehicle currently sold in California. It will eliminate all emissions of raw hydrocarbon gasoline vapors.
Other vehicles such as the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius have the SULEV certification. Both of these vehicles have hybrid powertrains matching a gasoline engine to a battery-powered motor.
