Nissan's 2000 Frontier

The Frontier

Whether you're piling sand bags at a construction site, or hauling mountain bikes for an epic ride, the Frontier is built for the challenge.

V6 power: The Frontier's 170-hp 3.3-liter V6 is more powerful than the Ford Ranger V6. And it delivers 90% of its 200 ft-lbs of torque at a mere 1,500 rpm, letting you tow up to 5,000 pounds* over on-ramps or unpaved roads with conviction.

4-cylinder strength: Our dual overhead cam 4-cylinder is no slacker, delivering 143 horses -- the most in its class** -- 154 ft-lbs of torque and up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity*, all with a frugal appetite.

All-terrain versatility: The 4x4 includes a 2-speed transfer case - 4WD High for more traction, and 4WD Low for steep hills or trudging through snow or mud at speeds up to 30 mph. Standard auto-locking hubs on V6 models let you roll into 4-wheel drive without stopping. And for superior 4x4 performance, you can opt for large P265/70R15 tires and an available traction-boosting limited slip differential.

Flexible bed: The largest bed in its class** is double-walled, so interior dents don't show on the outside. And the Flexible Loading System lets you divide the bed four ways using plywood and built-in grooves.

Simply solid: The body-on-frame design features a full-length, steel-reinforced ladder frame that provides rugged strength and a resilient backbone for towing and hauling. The body combines high-strength steel and DURASTEEL® for superior corrosion protection. And the engine incorporates a maintenance-free timing chain and worry-free 100,000-mile spark plugs***.

Smooth efficiency: Liquid-filled engine mounts provide cushioning where the V6 joins the frame to reduce noise vibration. Lightweight alloy pistons keep weight down. And mirror-polished camshafts and crankshafts reduce friction and enhance response and efficiency.
