Merging the style of a sedan with the utility of a minivan, Nissan's New Concept Sedan (NCS) was designed to provide first-class seating for four adults, offer minivan-like space, and achieve this with forms that still say "car." The result:
The NCS is fully operational, built on a current Nissan chassis and featuring a 190-horsepower V6 engine, a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic overdrive transmission, front-wheel drive, fully tuned sports suspension and a 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System.
The exterior of the NCS was designed by Jim McJunkin at Nissan Design International. A couple of years ago, McJunkin, an amateur racing car driver, sold his high performance two-seat sports car. "I loved it, but it wasn't very practical," he said. "And I couldn't get my mother-in-law in it." McJunkin decided to design a car that met both his aesthetic and functional needs. "It's perfect for sharing social times with adult friends, like going to the theater or on a weekend trip. When called upon, though, it can haul materials from the home-improvement store or transport a family."
