It's the ultimate off-road triathlon. And it's brought to you by the ultimate off-road SUV. The Xterra is the official vehicle of the Xterra Championship held in Wailea, Maui in October. Produced by Team Unlimited, this rigorous triathlon features a 1.5-kilometer rough-water swim, 30-kilometer mountain bike, and 11-kilometer off-road run.

In addition, the Xterra America Tour, presented by Nissan, will take place this summer. This ten-stop national tour features weekend-long celebrations with concerts, clinics, exhibits, 10K runs, family bike rides and a half-distance Xterra triathlon called the XT. The finale of each celebration is a full-length, regional Xterra race.

Each of the ten stops on the XTERRA America Tour is a weekend-long lifestyle sports and outdoor recreation festival.  Packed with activities, there's clinics and demonstrations, a mini tri for kids and fun bike rides or runs, exhibits and great food and entertainment.

This year, thanks to signature presenting sponsor, Nissan Xterra, it expands nationally, with a ten stop tour across the country.   XTERRA pro athletes vie for $137,000 in cash, and amateurs for a guaranteed slot in the season-ending blowout at the Maui Championship.

It all culminates on Halloween, with the XTERRA Championship in Wailea, Maui.  With a field limited to 400 of the world's most dedicated pro and amateur multi-sport athletes, the Island of Maui puts on a classic demonstration of the XTERRA motto: "Mother Nature is your toughest competitor."
