AAA NAMES OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS TOP CAR

Cutlass

The 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass was presented with AAA's Top Car award in the $15,000 to $20,000 price category. The Cutlass received the award after comprehensive evaluations by AAA's Autograph Book editors. The honor is given after careful consideration of the vehicle's workmanship, safety, performance, passenger environment and value.

"We are extremely honored to receive this award from AAA," said the Cutlass Brand Manager. "The $15,000-$20,000 price category is one of the most hotly contested market segments, and to receive this award further demonstrates that Cutlass meets the standards set by today's more discriminating buyers."

From its classically styled exterior to its feature-laden interior, Cutlass delivers elegance and convenience-not to mention power and safety-for thousands less than its competitors. The Cutlass is one of the most highly recognized nameplates in the U.S. and it continues to play a vital role for Oldsmobile.

Cutlass Safety
Just like the ingenious safety pin, Cutlass' safety package is intrinsic to its design. The rigid construction is the next best thing to having a body chiseled out of a solid block of steel, and in a collision, the cage construction helps keep impact forces from entering the passenger compartment. In addition, the sturdy body-side structure and door beams help minimize intrusion in a side impact. Front and rear crush zones are also designed to deform in a progressive manner to absorb impact energy in a collision.

Standard daytime running lamps help make Cutlass more visible to other drivers, while the standard battery run-down protection shuts off forgotten interior lights after twenty minutes.

The best way to avoid injury in a collision is to avoid the collision in the first place. That's why one of the most important crash avoidance features available in vehicles today is the anti-lock brake system (ABS). Standard anti-lock brakes help you maintain steering control during hard braking, especially on wet or slippery surfaces.

Cutlass also provides a standard PASSLock II® vehicle security system that recognizes only the authorized ignition key and won't start the engine without it. The brake/transmission shift interlock keeps you in park until the brake pedal is depressed. Cutlass' safety package is not only smart, it's simple, as all these features are standard.
