ONSTAR EXPANDS AVAILABILITY ON OLDSMOBILE

OnStar brings its safety, security and convenience services to more Oldsmobile drivers for 1999.  In addition to Aurora and Silhouette, OnStar will be available on Intrique, Eighty Eight and Bravada.

Later in the 1999 model year, Bravada will carry the next generation in the evolution of OnStar.  OnStar on Bravada uses a three-button  pad conveniently positioned near the rearview mirror.  The driver communicates through a hands-free microphone built into the headliner, while the radio speaker system carries the responses from the OnStar Center.  Bravada drivers will receive a single monthly bill for cellular charges and OnStar Center services.

With the push of a button on a cell phone handset, Oldsmobile drivers are connected to an OnStar Advisor, who can deliver a comprehensive array of safety and security services.   If a driver needs emergency medical help, an Advisor can notify the nearest emergency services provider to the location of the vehicle.  If a car is broken into or stolen, the Advisor can get a location on the vehcile, notify the nearest police department and begin tracking it.  Also, if an air bag should be deployed, an automatic signal is sent to the OnStar Center, alerting an Advisor to the accident and giving the vehicle's location, as well as the location of the nearest 9-1-1 dispatcher.

In addition, OnStar Advisors can deliver many convenience services, including remote door unlock, route support, remote diagnostics and the location of nearby hotels, restaurants, Oldsmobile dealers, and many other points of interest from a database with 250 categories and more than 4.3 million listings.

OnStar is the mobile communication service from General Motors that uses the global Positioning System (GPS) satellite network and cellular technology to link the driver and   vehicle with the OnStar Center, where Advisors provide real-time, person-to-person help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  OnStar, launched on GM vehicles for the 1997 model year, is available in all 50 United States and Canada.
