DETROIT --Computers, TVs, VCRs, CDs/DVDs and other telecommunications and entertainment devices have become an integral part of today's active lifestyles, and it is increasingly important to be able to rely on these technologies in current as well as future vehicles. The 1999 Aztek has an entertainment system that is as flexible and configurable as Pontiac's concept vehicle.
Pioneer's Premium Visual Audio System gives Aztek's occupants the same amenities and capabilities that they have grown accustomed to in their homes and offices. This system which consists of a radio with CD changer control, two LCD displays, digital versatile disc (DVD) player, six-disc multi-CD changer, cordless remote control and 10 speakers represent the latest in exciting entertainment technology.
Multifunction LCD Display
A multifunction LCD monitor becomes the window for delivering information and
entertainment. A super-thin main monitor in Aztek's instrument panel displays Driver
Information Center messages, time and radio station readouts and navigational information.
The Visual Audio System can be accessed by buttons on the instrument panel or by a cordless remote control. Setting choices like volume, tuning, balance, treble and base appear on the monitor for easy selection.
An additional LCD monitor folds down from the overhead console for rear seat passengers to view favorites digital movies to help the pass the time on long trips. This monitor can be accessed by remote or controlled by the front seat occupants.
The DVD player and monitor are fully removable to prevent theft. Since, the system is portable it can also be used outside the vehicle; for example, while tailgating, sitting around a campfire or relaxing in a tent.
Picnic/Tailgating Mode
Aztek's sound system features both "standard mode" and "picnic/tailgating
mode." In standard mode, the sound is optimized for in-vehicle listening. In
picnic/tailgating mode, sound is projected from the rear liftgate/tailgate area through
Aztek's specially designed outward-angled rear speakers. Music can be selected by remote
control or from special redundant rear cargo area controls.

Awesome Speakers
Aztek's 10-speaker Pioneer system with stylized wire honeycomb speaker grilles can only be
describe as "awesome." Two high-mid, compression driver unit speakers in the
instrument panel give studio quality sound. Four low-profile, responsive speakers located
in each front and rear door provide deep, powerful bass tones.
The door speakers feature Pioneer's exclusive low-profile Kevlar cone and neodymium magnet circuit technology which gives remarkably loud, clear sound.
Four speakers are mounted in the rear cargo area. Two of them are subwoofer with base-reflex enclosures to further enhance the ultimate base sound. The other two are mounted rearward and programmed to project sound outward when in "picnic/tailgating mode."
Expandable System
Pioneer's Premium Visual Audio system is designed to provide full control of all audio,
video and information sources. The system's main unit is similar to a computer with a
processor, operating system and expansion ports and is designed to be fast and easy to
use. Components such as a TV tuner, VCR, game machine and navigation system can be added
to this system.
