Porsche's Best Monthly Result since December 1986

The United States of America and Canada remains the most important export market for Dr.Ing.h.c.F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart: in May 1999, the Porsche subsidiary Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) sold a total of 2,521 vehicles there. This is the best monthly result for Porsche sports cars in North America since December 1986. At that time, 3,547 sports cars were sold.

Of the vehicles sold in the USA and Canada in May, 1999, 1,460 were the Boxster model and 1,061 were the 911 type. The cabriolet is the most popular of the 911 variants: 459 US customers chose the two-wheel drive cabrio, while 108 selected the open four-wheel drive version. The 911 Carrera 2 Coupé was sold 360 times, whereas the 911 Carrera 4 Coupé found a total of 134 buyers.

These figures represent a sales increase of 15 percent in comparison to the figures for May, 1998: at that time, 2,192 vehicles were sold.

During the current business year up to the end of May, Porsche Cars North America has sold 16,876 vehicles. When compared to the previous year (12,381), this represents an increase of 36.3 percent.

PCNA is anticipating a total of over 19,000 Porsche sports cars sold in the business year 1998/99, which ends on July 31.
