DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Porsche customer race teams recorded two class victories in last weekend's Rolex 24 at Daytona endurance race here at Daytona International Speedway.

The Alex Job Racing entry of Cort Wagner, Kelly Collins, Darryl Havens and Anthony Lazzaro took the top spot in the GT3 class (6th overall), while the Roock Racing team of Andre Ahrle, Hubert Haupt, David Warnock and Raffaele Sangiuolo secured top honors in GT2 (7th overall).

The Alex Job Racing team and the Roock Racing team were but two of four Porsche customer race teams to crack the top 10 in the final standings. Finishing second in GT3 behind AJR and ninth, overall, was the Reiser Callas Rennsport team of David Murry, Joel Reiser, Grady Willingham and Johnny Mowlem, while the Schumacher Racing team of Larry Schumacher, John O'Steen, Martin Snow and Dirk Mueller grabbed second in GT2, 10th, overall.

For winning the GT2 class, Roock Racing helped Porsche win the inaugural Daytona "Sports Car of the Year" award.

In GT2, the Roock and Schumacher teams bested a pair of Chevrolet Corvettes and a Dodge Viper, both of which gathered a lot of pre-race publicity. The same could be said for GT3 where Porsche overcame its rival, BMW, with its stable of M3s.

In all, 78 cars started the event, with 44 running at the finish. A Ford/Riley & Scott Can Am car fielded by Dyson Racing, won the 37th edition of the event over a Ferrari 333 SP, which featured 1998 Porsche factory driver Allan McNish.
