Porsche Team Wins

BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA, - The Alex Job Racing Porsche team of Cort Wagner and Dirk Müller recorded the GT class wonin the Grand Prix of Mosport at Mosport International Raceway.   The class win for AJR in Round 3 of the American Le Mans Series marked the end of an impressive comeback from a disastrous Saturday practice accident when Wagner rolled his #23 Porsche 911 RSR three times after absorbing contact from a Ferrari. The race car had extensive damage, but the team put the car back together again allowing the opportunity to compete for the class victory after starting last on the grid. With the win, Wagner strengthened his lead in the GT class driver's points standings.

In addition to the class win, the Wagner-Müller duo recorded a 16th place, overall, among the 33 finishers.

Another Porsche customer race team highlight came courtesy of the Champion Porsche 911 GT1 team of Allan McNish and Ralf Kelleners. Starting 11th on the grid, the Champion team marched ahead of a number of open-cockpit Prototype class cars to secure sixth-place. McNish was making his return to racing in North America since winning the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans for the Porsche factory team.

In the GTS class, the highest placing Porsche 911 Turbo was the Schumacher Racing Team of Larry Schumacher and John O'Steen, which finished fourth in class, 18th overall. The overall winner was the Ford Panoz LMP of Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen, which covered 122 laps around the history-laden 2.4-mile road course. The margin of victory over a second Ford Panoz LMP was more than 15 seconds.

The fourth round of the American Le Mans Series is scheduled for July 25 at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, California.
