New exterior features:
- Introduction of Dark Blue on SL; Green and Blackberry on SL1 and SL2.
New interior Features:
- Front seat belt inboard latches extended 22mm for improved access.
- Improved shoulder belt height adjustment feature.
New power modules features:
- Noise/Vibration/Harshness improvements for both SOHC and DOHC engines
include: new engine front cover, longer powered metal connecting rods, new eight
counterweight crankshaft, new 8mm pitch timing chain, new alloy piston design.
- Revised SOHC camshaft profile for improved idle stability and control of false
combustion knock.
- New for DOHC engines: redesigned composite cam cover; roller follower valve train
for reduced friction and improved fuel economy; Air Injection Reaction (AIR) system with
specific exhaust manifold and warm-up converter for States requiring L.E.V. emission
levels.
- Improved EPA estimated fuel economy:
SOHC manual= + 1 mpg both city and highway
DOHC manual= + 1 mpg city; +2 mpg highway
Automatic= +1 mpg both city and highway
New chassis features:
- Rear drum brakes on all vehicles (replaces rear discs on SL2 with ABS)
- Windshield washer solvent bottle capacity increased to 1-gallon.
