Subaru Of America, Inc. Named Title Sponsor Of Naples LPGA Memorial

Subaru of America, Inc., has become the title sponsor of the tournament formerly
known as the Naples LPGA Memorial. The Subaru Memorial of Naples -- an LPGA TOUR
event -- will be held at The Strand (formerly The Club at Pelican Strand) January
17-January 23, 2000. The sponsorship, which is a two-year agreement, allows Subaru to
become the event's first-ever title sponsor.
The sponsorship was jointly announced today by Subaru of America President and Chief
Operating Officer George Muller, LPGA TOUR Commissioner Ty Votaw and Tournament General
Chairman and Chairman of Naples Capital Group Thomas G. Brown.
The Subaru Memorial sponsorship agreement maintains the strong presence that Subaru has
developed in the world of professional golf. Prior to this deal, Subaru was the title
sponsor of the now defunct Subaru Sarazen World Open Golf Tournament in 1997 and 1998.
Additionally, Subaru continues to be a major supporter of women's sports, with very
successful programs like the "Women's Cycling Summits" and the "Master The
Mountain" ski program with two-time Olympic Gold medalist Diann Roffe-Steinrotter.
"Subaru has created some very unique partnerships that focus on the growing area of
women's sports," said George Muller. "We are extremely excited about the
opportunity to develop a strong relationship with the LPGA and are delighted to be
associated with a world-class sporting event like the Subaru Memorial."
Tournament Chairman Brown, who was instrumental in bringing the LPGA TOUR back to Naples
last year, added, "Everyone associated with this wonderful tournament -- from the
staff to the players, from the volunteers to the community sponsors -- welcomes the
commitment of this performance-driven company."
Subaru of America, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., of
Japan. Headquartered near Philadelphia, the company markets and distributes Subaru
vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of nearly 600 franchised dealers across
the United States. All Legacy models sold in the U.S., including the Outback and Outback
Sedan, are produced at the company's American manufacturing plant, Subaru-Isuzu
Automotive, Inc., near Lafayette, Indiana.
