THE VERVE PIPE, VIOLENT FEMMES, DISHWALLA, THE ATOMIC FIREBALLS AND GRAND FUNK RAILROAD TO PLAY AT DRIVERSFEST '99

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Volkswagen of America announced that The Verve Pipe, Violent Femmes, Dishwalla, The Atomic Fireballs and Grand Funk Railroad will be featured artists at its upcoming DriversFest '99 event.

DriversFest '99 - a celebration for Volkswagen enthusiasts past, present and future - will take place at Jones Beach State Park, Long Island, N.Y., Saturday, August 28, 1999, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The music festival is just one aspect of DriversFest '99. Other featured activities include a performance driving clinic with professional instructors and new car test drives. In addition, DriversFest '99 will be home to the first-ever DriversFest classic and custom car show with special sections dedicated to motorsports and a historical display.

According to Bill Rodgers, Volkswagen of America's Chairperson for DriversFest '99, the many events at DriversFest '99 provide something for everyone. "We can't think of a better way to celebrate the passion for life and driving that is common among those who love Volkswagen cars - whether they currently own a Volkswagen or not.  This is about the people who have made Volkswagen the powerful brand that it is today."

All Volkswagen devotees are invited to attend DriversFest '99. In addition to the Rock Music Festival, the car show and drive events, DriversFest '99 will include lifestyle events, sports and outdoor activities within the Jones Beach State Park grounds and a complete lifestyle exposition.
