Background: Now in its fifth decade as the PGA tour's original corporate sponsor, Buick is title-sponsor of four PGA Tour events, including the Buick Open which began in 1958. Tom Pernice Jr., who won the $432,000 first prize in 1999, will attempt to become the first player to win the Buick Open in consecutive years since Tony Lema in 1964-1965.
