AutoWorld.com - DETROIT - The new 2000 Yukon and Yukon XL are bigger in a lot of ways - not just in exterior size. Through more efficient packaging, extraordinary design features, and technological advancements these new Yukons maintain nearly the same exterior dimensions and still create more of the interior features that SUV owners want. The new Yukons have more comfortable cabins, increased passenger capacity, outstanding cargo- carrying capability, exceptional convenience features and a safer, more secure
environment.

Yukon's interior space provides more headroom and hip room in every seating position.
Additional headroom was created by reshaping the overhead HVAC ducts and repositioning the outlets, resulting in a flatter headliner that provides better forward visibility for rear-seat passengers.
Second-seat legroom was improved by increasing the front-to-second-seat spacing.
Third-seat access in Yukon XL has been improved by providing a low-effort, one-hand-operation, sliding second-row seat.

With the available third-row seat, Yukon now provides up to nine-passenger carrying capability. Either of the halves of this 50/50 split-folding bench seat can be flipped and folded, for example, to provide additional passenger-carrying capability on one side and more cargo room for such items as skis or groceries on the other.

The flip-and-fold design of the third row seat also allows the entire seat to be neatly
stowed within the vehicle. It greatly increases rear cargo room, without requiring seat removal. If seat removal is needed, it is as easy as unlatching each of the separate halves
and lifting them up by their top handle (each seat weights only about 44 pounds).

Research indicates that the new Yukon seats are the most comfortable in their segment.
Totally redesigned, they are wider and firmer and seatback angles are steeper. There
is a 34-percent increase in front seat track travel for extra legroom.
Longer-length safety belts can accommodate virtually any passenger. First- and third-
row seats have seat-mounted safety belts that move with the occupant for increased
comfort.

Ultimate comfort and convenience are provided by the optional new premium front
bucket seats. They are trimmed in leather and provide six-way power adjusters for the
driver and passenger, power adjustable seat back bolsters, heated seat backs and
cushions, power lumbar and side bolster adjusters, articulating four-position adjustable
headrests, a seat back stowage pocket and two-position driver memory seat. Conventional
six-way power seats are also still available.

New to Yukon XL is four-place bucket seating with the addition of two optional second-row reclining bucket seats. These seats fold flat to add more cargo space and have a wide center pass-through for convenient third row seat access.

In addition, a newly available nine-speaker audio system, with a rear sealed subwoofer,
also provides Yukon with state-of-the-art entertainment. This custom-designed system is acoustically tailored and actively equalized to the truck's interior, so that high-quality
sound reaches every seating position.
