MERCEDES-BENZ ANNOUNCES NO-COST MAINTENANCE COMMITMENT
All Scheduled Maintenance Included for the Full New Car Warranty Period

Autoworld.com - David Lee - Mercedes-Benz USA again raises the bar on providing clients with the most comprehensive possible service for their automobile with the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Commitment. This new program covers all required maintenance for the full warranty period of each vehicle (four years or 50,000 miles on all new Mercedes models). The benefit to owners is a menu of maintenance services valued at over $1,000.

In addition to oil and filter changes, no-cost scheduled maintenance items include checking air conditioning refrigerant level and pressure, engine coolant, power steering fluid level, headlamp adjustment (for cars without Xenon headlamps), parking brake adjustment and brake fluid, tire rotation and inspection, dust filters (where applicable), battery charge, function of all external and interior warning lights, suspension and steering ball joints (plus an Airmatic test on S-Class sedans ), spare tire pressure and many other tests. Regular wear items such as belts, brake pads, rotors and sensors are inspected.

Thanks to the Mercedes-Benz Flexible Service System (which monitors oil quality, among other things) the driver is informed exactly when an oil filter change is required. In many cases, this FSS will allow for longer maintenance intervals. This system can safely extend maintenance intervals to as high as 20,000 miles, provided the vehicle is driven primarily on the open road at light throttle. At the same time, a car used in heavy stop-and-go driving and in extreme temperatures may call for service as often as every 10,000 miles.

This oil quality sensor is standard on all Mercedes-Benz vehicles powered by twin-spark, three-valve V6 and V8 engines, while those without these engines (C230 Kompressor, SL600) come with a version of the Flexible Service System that lacks only the dielectric oil sensor. For these, the usual oil change and maintenance service, previously performed every 7,500 miles, is done at a minimum of 10,000 miles, again depending on the type of driving. Yet, regardless of what mileage the vehicle has attained when service is recommended by the FSS, it is covered by the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Commitment in this four-year/50,000-mile period.

Even before the introduction of the no-cost Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Commitment, Mercedes vehicles have had a strong reputation for outstanding long-term value. Intellichoice, an independent research firm that evaluates the total ownership cost for cars sold in America, rated the Mercedes-Benz E320 (which has a purchase price of $47, 100) as the Best Overall Value among all cars over $20,000. Mercedes-Benz automobiles have also been declared the Best Overall Values in each of the last 12 years.
