Toyota Announces Results for October 1999

Autoworld.com - David Lee - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) today announced the production, domestic registration, export, and overseas production results of TMC and subsidiary Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd., for October 1999.

OCTOBER 1999 HIGHLIGHTS

DOMESTIC PRODUCTION

Toyota

Monthly production in October increased by 3.5% compared to the same month last year to 296,000 units. This was the third consecutive month that the production figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year.

Daihatsu

Monthly production in October decreased by 22.5% compared to the same month last year to 56,000 units.

Toyota + Daihatsu

Combined domestic production was 351,000 units, a decrease of 1.7% from the same month last year.

DOMESTIC REGISTRATION

Toyota

Registrations of Toyota vehicles increased by 0.5% over the same month last year to 143,000 units. It was the first time in two months that the production figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year. Toyota held a 47.7% share of the total market, excluding minivehicles.

          Daihatsu

Registrations of Daihatsu vehicles increased by 5.5% over the same month last year to 41,000 units. This was the 13th consecutive month that the registration figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year. Of these, 40,000 were minivehicles (up 10.1% from the previous year). Daihatsu held a 28.8% share of the minivehicle market.

Toyota + Daihatsu

Combined domestic registrations totaled 184,000 units, up 1.6% over the same month last year. This was the third consecutive month that the registration figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year. Combined market share, including minivehicles, was 42.0%.

 

EXPORTS

Toyota

Due to increased exports to Europe, North America, Asia and other regions, export figures in October were higher than those of the same month last year. This was the third consecutive month that the export figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year.

Daihatsu

Due to decreased exports to Asia and other regions, export figures were lower than those of the same month last year.

Toyota + Daihatsu

Combined exports totaled 162,000 units, up 20.4% from the same month last year. This was the third consecutive month that the export figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year.

 

OVERSEAS PRODUCTION

Toyota

Overseas production exceeded that of October 1998, due to increased production in Asia and other regions. This is the third consecutive month that the overseas production figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year.

Daihatsu

 

Due to increased production in Asia and other regions, overseas production was higher than that of the same month a year ago. This is the third consecutive month that the overseas production figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year.

Toyota + Daihatsu

Combined overseas production was 147,000 units, higher by 1.6% compared to the same month last year. This is the third consecutive month that the overseas production figures exceeded those of the same month of the previous year.
