A new exterior Gold Sport Appearance Package is available in a choice of four monochromatic colors - Black, Oxford White, Deep Forest Green and Cabernet Red. The package features a body-colored grille and outside mirrors plus gold accents on the wheels, grille and liftgate ornamentation. New exterior colors include Cabernet Red, Deep Forest Green, Light Blue Metallic,Medium Seafoam Green and Midnight Gray. The LS model has a gold accent stripe in the bodyside molding. The Nautica model has a new appearance with a choice of five exterior colors plus Midnight Gray accents on the lower body and aluminum wheels.

Mercury Villager is offered in three series - GS, LS and Nautica.

• The GS includes four captain's chairs and a three-passenger rear bench that slides on a set of recessed floor tracks to provide seating flexibility. The rear seat can be folded up and moved forward and stored behind the first or second row, creating a large area for cargo without having to remove the seat. A second-row cloth bench seat option is available. For commercial applications, a GS cargo van is available with just two front seats.
• The Villager LS features standard leather seating or an optional, luxurious cloth seat fabric, and a higher level of features and equipment.
• The top-of the-line Nautica features upgraded leather surfaces for all seats.

Contributing to Villager's reputation for versatility are its 13 seating and cargo configurations. Seven passengers can be comfortably seated with 14.1 cubic feet of cargo space at the rear. In maximum cargo mode, Villager provides 126 cubic feet of space.

Constructed on a 112.2-inch wheelbase, the front-wheel-drive Villager is powered by an SOHC 3.0-liter V-6 engine delivering 151 horsepower at 4,800 rpm. An electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard equipment.

Standard safety features include dual front air bags, side-impact protection and a childproof lock for the sliding side door.
